Position Overview

Our client is seeking a qualified applicant for a sessional instructional assignment in the 2025 Fall and 2026 Winter terms. This position will focus on teaching English through the Awi’nakola Program at the Mixalakwila Campus (Port Hardy).

Position Details

• Location: Mixalakwila Campus (Port Hardy)
• Position Status: Sessional
• Salary: $70,437 – $112,872 (at 100% appointment)
• New Position: Yes

Schedule

The instructor will teach the following schedule:

• Tuesday & Thursday: 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM
• Fridays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on the following dates:
  • September 12, 2025
  • October 17, 2025
  • November 14, 2025
  • December 12, 2025
  • January 9, 2026
  • February 20, 2026
  • March 13, 2026
  • April 10, 2026

Position Summary

The teaching faculty is responsible for implementing the college’s vision and goals related to teaching and learning, developing courses, and supporting students through culturally infused learning experiences.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare learning materials.
• Teach assigned subject areas and include all required content in courses.
• Provide a positive learning environment for students.
• Maintain records of student achievements and submit grades in a timely manner.
• Participate actively in college committees and community activities.

Required Education & Experience

• A Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline; Master’s Degree is highly desirable.
• BC Teaching Certificate or Provincial Instructor Diploma is highly desirable.
• Minimum three years of related experience, preferably in a post-secondary setting.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Able to embed Indigenous perspectives into course design.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience with educational technologies and diverse learning environments.
