Your Opportunity:
Based on location availability, the successful applicant has the option to work from either our client’s Ponoka or Red Deer office. This position is eligible for a remote hybrid agreement after a period of orientation. The Virtual Rapid Access Addiction Medicine program provides non-judgmental care to individuals seeking counselling, medical care, or other therapeutic interventions for substance use and addiction issues. As a RPN, you will be working with an interdisciplinary team to provide treatment and help coordinate care for clients. The successful candidate will have the ability to work within a team environment as well as be able to function with minimal supervision. This position provides quality, client-focused, recovery-based, and culturally appropriate assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, education, and referral services for clients and their families, as well as maintaining positive liaisons with community and provincial stakeholders. Within this role, the incumbent will develop and implement treatment plans and provide a range of interventions that offer the least intrusive and most appropriate services to clients and their families. The role includes providing consultation with community Physicians, Pharmacists, and other mental health and addictions supports. The incumbent will also remain current and up-to-date on addictions treatment theory and principles. Your understanding, passion, and experience in addiction medicine is essential, as well as excellent computer, texting, and telephone etiquette, because you will be monitoring and evaluating client progress via telehealth and telephone.

Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes through critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making, as well as teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient, and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of our client.

Compensation:
Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour – $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with relevant agreements.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of specific courses is required.

Additional Required Qualifications:
Excellent knowledge of addictions and mental illness. Must be competent in identifying clients at risk and completing a suicide risk assessment. Knowledge of Suboxone/buprenorphine and Methadone. Advanced computer literacy. Above-average keyboarding skills and proficiency with computer programs such as Outlook, MS Office, Teams, Connect Care, etc.
