An exciting opportunity exists for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary neonatal team in the delivery of care to neonates and their families in a level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The unit supports a wide variety of patients throughout the area, and neonatal nursing is a subspecialty that works with critically ill newborn infants facing a range of issues including prematurity, birth defects, infections, cardiac malformations, and surgical needs.
Attention to detail and critical thinking are essential to the role. A high level of competency and proficiency is required to work in this highly technical area. Nurses should be able to evaluate challenging situations and make quick judgments in a fast-paced environment based on the fluctuating health statuses of NICU patients. Additionally, they need to maintain a level head when faced with ethical and emotional situations and provide empathetic care to families.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will be part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level, and relevant policies and procedures. Your key role will involve providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting shared vision and values.
