The emergency department is a busy tertiary care level I emergency department open 24/7. This large tertiary Trauma Centre provides opportunities in a broad base of emergency nursing from Pediatrics to Trauma Care. Registered Nurses within the Emergency department work in a state-of-the-art facility utilizing an electronic tracking system, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for emergency patients. Decisions are made in a collaborative multidisciplinary health care team environment. In this role, you may be required to work in all areas of Emergency at the discretion of the Unit Manager/Charge Nurse. Working with us is about making a difference. Description

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes through critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making, as well as teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of our client.

Please Note: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58/hour – $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse according to the relevant agreements.

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
• If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of required courses is necessary.
• 2 years of med/surg/acute care experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS – Heart and Stroke AED Level C REQUIRED) – Healthcare Provider Registration.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of Emergency experience.
• Recent nursing experience in a tertiary/urban centre.
• Recent critical care experience in the last 2 years.
• Certifications such as ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, PALS, NRP – Preference for applicants with 3 of 6.
• Certified Emergency Nurse (CAN or CNE) is an asset.
• Preference to those who can demonstrate excellent assessment, organizational, patient care, and leadership skills.
• Triage and/or charge nurse experience.
