This rural generalist Physiotherapist II position provides physiotherapy services to clients at the St. Paul Healthcare Centre and may include ambulatory outpatients, acute care, and continuing care services as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Description

As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing supervision of students and team members as assigned.
  • Working both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team providing leadership to other healthcare professionals.
  • Making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge, and follow-up.
  • Advising team members on complex clinical cases and providing clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient, and effective client care.
  • Ensuring physiotherapy practice is evidence-based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics, and policy guidelines.
  • Coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery.
  • Identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management.
  • Completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff.
  • Participating in program development and operational planning.
  • Representing the department on committees or programs.
  • Making decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers.

All affiliated Physiotherapists have access to a list of experienced clinicians across the province and are able to tap into this resource via email, phone, and virtual meetings. As they transition to their Provincial Electronic Medical Record (Connect Care), you will also be able to share patient information in real-time with these senior clinicians to assist in providing high-quality care.

    Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or a bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience.
  • Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

    • Additional Required Qualifications

  • Certification in Basic Life Support – Healthcare Provider from the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • New grads are welcome to apply.
  • Preferably one year experience in a rural generalist position.
  • AADL authorizer status for mobility aids is an asset.
