Your Opportunity:

As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the experienced perioperative Operating Room Technician (ORT) has focused skills in a variety of services that include Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology. The position requires the incumbent to perform both scheduled (elective) and unscheduled (emergency) surgeries, and to do on-call shifts. The ORT is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care during the perioperative patient experience in accordance with hospital policies and standards. The individual must demonstrate a professional, positive attitude, excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills when performing scrubbing and circulating duties in a surgical environment. The individual is also able to contribute to quality initiatives and promote a professional work environment at all times. The setting is a busy and fast-paced environment primarily focused on Ophthalmology & Otolaryngology.

Description:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will be part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level, and relevant policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

• Employee Class: Regular Full Time
• Hours per Shift: 7.75
• Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends, On Call
• Minimum Salary: $28.93
• Maximum Salary: $37.90

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program.
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

• MUST have completed the Peri-Operative course or have the equivalent of 3 years’ Operating Room experience.
• Successful completion of an approved Practical Nursing educational program (diploma or certificate in practical nursing).
• Minimum of 5 years current general operating room experience in a high acuity OR with 1 – 2 years specific experience in Ophthalmology & Otolaryngology.
• Ability to collaborate within the expectations of an integrated team.
• Demonstrates advanced problem-solving skills integrating critical thinking and good judgment.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.
