Our client is seeking a skilled individual for a key operational technology role in a hybrid work environment. This position offers a blend of in-office (3 days) and remote work (2 days) with flexible hours in Downtown Toronto. As part of a reputable organization, you will play a crucial role in optimizing and supporting Operational Technology systems in a strong culture focused on ethics and sustainability.

Purpose of Role

Reporting to the Director of IT/OT Integrations & Global Network Communications, the role involves the optimization and support of Operational Technology systems across various domains, including mine, plant, and safety systems. Your expertise will enable secure integration between IT and OT, providing application access while maintaining robust security.

Job Responsibilities

1. Operational Technology & ICS Support

• Provide advanced technical support for OT/ICS environments, including PLCs, SCADA systems, HMIs, DCS, and historians.
• Support authentication mechanisms for OT applications, servers, and end users.
• Lead or contribute to OT application implementations, migrations, and upgrades.
• Conduct system health monitoring, patching, and performance tuning of OT platforms.
• Maintain, update, and standardize documentation for deployment, change control, and operations.
• Provide expert-level troubleshooting and serve as the final escalation point prior to vendor engagement.

2. IT/OT Integration

• Collaborate with IT and OT stakeholders to ensure secure connectivity between enterprise systems and industrial assets.
• Support integration of data flows between field systems and business intelligence/reporting tools.
• Participate in the design and deployment of hybrid IT/OT network architectures.

3. Cybersecurity and Compliance

• Implement and uphold cybersecurity standards and best practices in OT environments.
• Support IT security and compliance initiatives for integration with cloud and enterprise systems.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal governance policies.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams during risk assessments and incident response exercises.
• Manage OT Asset Management & Vulnerability Management platform for global operations.

4. Project & Vendor Management

• Balance ongoing support tasks with project deliverables and deadlines.
• Participate in all phases of project lifecycles related to OT systems and integrations.
• Support training and knowledge transfer to operations and support teams.
• Maintain accurate documentation for all systems, network diagrams, and configurations.
• Manage third-party vendor relationships while ensuring compliance with service levels and procurement policies.

Sustainability Expectations

• Provide guidance and knowledge transfer around IT/OT integration for OT applications.
• Lead a global team ensuring adherence to governance and security standards.
• Support data security through a robust internal infrastructure.
• Keep IT/OT applications documentation updated and create new documentation as necessary.
• Advise leadership on IT integration solutions and implications of decisions.
• Continuously enhance knowledge in the IT/OT integration field.

Scope of Responsibility & Complexity

• Self-management with low supervision and decision-making impact.
• Manage relationships globally and serve as an escalation point for complex issues.
• Work involves non-routine situations requiring advanced problem resolution.
• Support OT applications and integrations efficiently under pressure.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

1. Technical Requirements

• Understanding of Windows and Linux server administration.
• Proficient in PowerShell and automation scripting.
• Knowledge of data exchange between trusted/untrusted networks and Industrial DMZ.
• Strong experience with DCS/SCADA systems and Active Directory.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity standards and industrial communication protocols.

2. Behavioral & Soft Skills

• Strong decision-making and analytical abilities.
• Exceptional communication skills with IT and OT stakeholders.
• Adaptability to changing priorities in an operational environment.
• Willingness to work outside regular hours as needed.
• Fluency in English; additional languages a plus.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience in mining, oil & gas, or heavy industrial operations.
• Familiarity with condition monitoring and analytics tools.
• Exposure to cloud-integrated OT systems.
• Experience in global industrial environments.
