Based out of our client’s Melcor Centre, Lethbridge office, this Occupational Therapy position is part of a large multidisciplinary team (OT, PT, SLP, SW, AUD, and TAs) providing service to a pediatric population aged birth to 18 years. The successful incumbent will demonstrate proficiencies in the following areas:

Description:

As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible for coordinating occupational therapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned, and work independently or as part of an interdisciplinary team, where you will be an integral member providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. Your responsibilities will include:

• Making day-to-day clinical decisions regarding patient/family needs related to assessment, intervention, discharge, and follow-up.
• Advising team members on complex clinical cases and providing clinical leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and effective client care.
• Ensuring occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and in alignment with Alberta legislation, regulations, professional standards, code of ethics, and policy guidelines.
• Coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery.
• Identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, chart audits, and providing follow-up and feedback to staff.
• Participating in program development and operational planning, representing the department on committees or programs.
• Making decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers.
• Carrying out the roles of a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator, and/or advocate in your program or service area as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program or a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy with related experience.
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Pediatric experience is preferred.
