Location: Ottawa, Canada
Our client is engaged in supporting the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) through its In-Service Support (ISS) Programs. They deliver cutting-edge solutions that enable the staffing and functionality of mission systems.

Position Summary

Our client is looking for an Intermediate Naval Systems Engineer to complete all Systems Engineering (SE) tasks, including requirements solicitation, analysis, basic and detailed design activities, systems integration, and interface definition of Naval Electronic systems.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Systems Engineers at our client are tasked with integrating various sensors, software, firmware, and applications. The essential functions and responsibilities include:

• Tailoring the system engineering process, practices, and tools;
• Providing timely and accurate status updates;
• Developing preliminary and detailed designs for system and subsystem elements;
• Reviewing and validating designs from both internal and subcontracting sources;
• Authoring technical documentation for system designs including architecture, interfaces, and installation elements;
• Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure design alignment with end-user criteria;
• Supporting the development of verification and validation plans;
• Resolving technical issues arising during implementation;
• Managing technical subcontractor compliance;

Minimum Requirements

• 3 to 6 years of experience in the design and integration of complex systems;
• Ability to thrive in cross-functional teams;
• University or college degree in engineering or a related discipline;

Preferred Qualifications

The following areas of expertise will be considered assets:

• Naval Architecture;
• Marine Electrical;
• C4 Combat Systems;

Physical Demands

• Predominantly office work with occasional lab and dockyard visits;
• May involve physical inspections onboard Naval ships.
