Job Overview

Position Summary:
The Electric Vehicle and Energy Storage Systems Test Technician will be responsible for assisting with and conducting testing activities for electric vehicle and energy storage systems at the cell, module, and/or pack level. The technician will adhere to all corporate policies and procedures as outlined in various manuals. Ongoing training and support will be provided to conduct various test disciplines and data acquisition/control system wiring, including Environmental Testing, Abuse & Performance testing on Lithium-Ion batteries.

Responsibilities

• Assist with and conduct various tests on electric vehicle and energy storage systems, including but not limited to passive propagation, external short circuit, overcharge, and thermal shock.
• Follow customer project timelines to ensure on-time delivery of test results and reports.
• Troubleshoot testing equipment for accurate and reliable test results.
• Document all test results using various formats, including technical reports, photographs, and videos.
• Utilize various instrumentation and equipment including battery cyclers, temperature measurements, and pressure transducers.
• Follow established testing standards and maintain confidentiality of all sensitive information.
• Raise requisitions for materials to maintain stock of general shop supplies.
• Ensure compliance with established work standards and safe practices, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Continuously seek efficiencies in productivity and suggest operational improvements.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of lithium-ion battery technology and safety requirements.
• Experience in test method development, instrumentation, and safety systems.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
• Strong attention to detail, capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to work independently.

Education:

• Technical 2 or 3 year diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to safely handle and operate laboratory equipment.
• Capability to occasionally lift and handle equipment weighing up to 25 lbs.
