Overview:
Under the direction of the Day Surgery & Short Stay Unit Manager, the Registered Nurse (RN) is a vital member of our healthcare team, collaborating on the delivery of care to meet the needs of patients/clients during their pre and post-operative journey, as well as for medical patients under our care. The RN is accountable for their nursing practice, adhering to the standards established by the relevant nursing regulatory body.

Key Responsibilities:
The RN provides care to patients with complex health conditions and is expected to work to their full scope of practice in two busy surgical units. Responsibilities include:

• Delivering safe, effective, and efficient care across Ambulatory & Inpatient processes.
• Conducting nursing assessments, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for a group of patients.
• Leading a collaborative care team and ensuring clear and effective communication among team members.
• Managing a fast-paced environment while demonstrating strong nursing assessment skills.
• Preparing patients for surgery and providing thorough post-operative care.

Job Description:
As a Registered Nurse, you will offer a variety of nursing services to patients, families, and communities, while prioritizing their safety and well-being. Your role encompasses:

• Utilizing critical thinking and problem-solving skills in nursing processes.
• Teaching, counseling, and advocating for patients and their families.
• Providing integrated and holistic patient care while reflecting shared vision and values.

Compensation:
Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid between $39.58/hour and $54.16/hour. Upon registration as a Registered Nurse, the pay rate will adjust according to applicable agreements.

Work Environment:

• Location: South Health Campus
• Job Type: Regular Part Time (0.61 FTE)
• Shift Pattern: Days, Nights, Weekends
• Minimum Salary: $43.26/hour
• Maximum Salary: $59.21/hour

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
• Active or eligible registration with the regulatory body.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification (BCLS-HCP).
• Completion of specified courses if not practiced nursing within the last five years.

Additional Required Qualifications:

• 1-2 years of acute care surgical nursing experience within the last four years.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in relevant software and clinical assessments.
• Ability to prioritize in a rapidly changing environment.
• Strong initiative, flexibility, and independence.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 year of Day Surgery experience within the past three years.
• Recent charge nurse experience preferred.
• Experience with quality improvement projects and nursing committees.
