The University of Alberta Hospital is one of Canada’s leading clinical, research, and teaching hospitals, treating more than 700,000 patients annually from western and northern Canada. The hospital offers a wide range of diagnostic and treatment services, including specialized adult services within cardiac sciences, neurosciences, surgery, medicine, orthopedics, renal, critical care, burns, transplant, and trauma inpatient programs, as well as a vast number of ambulatory clinics. This position contributes to the care of patients in the medicine program, which consists of 14 units and includes the following services: General Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Pulmonary, Hematology, and Geriatrics/Neurology. The program utilizes a collaborative care model (COACT) for patient care and Connect Care by Epic for the patient’s electronic medical record. The program has a team of Clinical Nurse Educators and Clinical Nurse Specialists to support new hire orientation, training in specialized areas, and ongoing professional development and initiatives. We strive to utilize evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives to improve patient and family experiences and outcomes.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level, and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
