About the Opportunity

The MRI Technologist will be responsible for day-to-day operations of designated MRI suites, including the instruction of students and direction of staff. This role involves ensuring that patient requisitions meet departmental standards, correlating clinical history with examinations, and conducting complex procedures under the indirect supervision of a radiologist.

Key responsibilities include:

• Performing imaging procedures and patient care duties.
• Applying safety rules and techniques in the MRI environment to protect all personnel involved.

This position is based out of Dartmouth General Hospital, with potential scheduling at the QEII Health Sciences Centre (Victoria General and Halifax Infirmary).

About You

We would love to hear from you if you possess the following qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited School of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technology.
• Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) MRI exam and certification.
• Licensure from the Nova Scotia College of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Professionals (NSCMIRTP).
• Prior MRI experience preferred.
• Competency in I.V. insertion.
• Ability to make independent decisions regarding diagnostic results.
• Ongoing interest in updating knowledge on new equipment and procedures.
• Excellent patient care skills, demonstrating kindness and effective communication.
• Ability to operate computer systems regarding patient information.
• Adaptability and critical thinking skills, with a capacity to thrive in a dynamic team environment.
• Competencies in additional languages are an asset, with French preferred.

Hours

• Long assignment full-time position; 75 hours biweekly.
• Approximately 18 months.
• Call and shift work required, including evenings, nights, and weekends.

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly wage: $36.88 – $44.11
