Job Summary

If applicants do not meet the qualifications below, they will be considered for a SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITY for a paid Critical Care Nursing Program through the Michener Institute.

About the Critical Care Nursing Program

• 11 week course
• Paid full-time hours
• Combination of instructor-led virtual and clinical education
• Formal 3-month mentorship offered after course completion
• Additional in-house opportunities for further certifications after course completion

Primary Responsibilities

• Provides patient and family focused care within the RN scope of practice, based on the three-factor framework of the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Functions in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures, including emergency codes.
• Ensures that practice is consistent with entry-to-practice competencies, standards of practice, guidelines, and legislation.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and all members of the healthcare team.
• Practices collaboratively with members of the healthcare team to provide elements of care for patients/clients with complex health issues.
• Provides consultation and/or clinical support to peers as needed.
• Contributes to the assessment and documentation of each patient’s health status on an ongoing basis.
• Assists in the development and implementation of the Plan of Care and evaluates its ongoing effectiveness.
• Acts as a role model and champion to integrate safe, best practices into daily activities to foster the delivery of exemplary care.
• Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical pathways.
• Other duties as assigned by Manager/delegate.

Qualifications

If applicants do not meet the qualifications below, they will be considered for a SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITY for the Critical Care Nursing Program.

• Current RN Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Minimum one (1) to three (3) years of recent medical and/or surgical nursing experience preferred.
• BCLS current certification.
• Current ACLS preferred.
• Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills.
• Excellence in communication, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrated commitment to customer service and teamwork.
