The Town of High Prairie, Gateway to the Mighty Peace, is located in northern Alberta’s Big Lakes County. Opened in 2017, the High Prairie Health Complex features 30 acute care beds, obstetrics and surgical programs, emergency and outpatient departments, and a full suite of healthcare services from diagnosis through treatment and recovery. The attached JB Wood Continuing Care Centre has 67 beds. Grow your career in a brand-new facility, collaborate with a friendly and professional team, and experience the beauty of the North. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, we currently have a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level, and our policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of our organization.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
The candidate must have the physical capability to perform all aspects of the role, including the ability to lift up to and including 50 lbs. Basic computer skills required. Strong leadership and critical thinking skills, demonstrated by the ability to direct other healthcare workers, problem solve and escalate clinical concerns in a timely and appropriate manner. The position requires strong communication and organizational skills and must be committed to patient and family-centered care. Demonstrated ability to maintain collaborative working relationships with patients, families, and team members.
Two or more years’ experience as an LPN in a medical-surgical setting.
