Your Opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity in our program for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) within the Alberta Kidney Care – North program. As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse – Renal Dialysis is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.

Decisions are made in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The LPN provides patient and family-centered care to acute and chronic renal failure patient populations. You will be encouraged and expected to work at your full scope of practice and provide a variety of nursing duties in accordance with current policies and nursing care standards.

Description:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level, and relevant policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program.
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

• Demonstrate critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs. (18kg).
• Must attend Hemodialysis training in Edmonton or Red Deer (6 weeks full-time training).
• Successful completion of the orientation is required to proceed to unit-specific orientation.
• Required to attend 1-day mandatory post-orientation (3 Months Post).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum 1-2 years recent Adult Acute Care and/or nephrology nursing experience.
• Experience with Nephrology Information Systems (NIS).
• Connect Care experience an asset.
• Training within AKC-North hemodialysis preferred.
