Occupational Therapist II, Grande Prairie, Canada – Immigration Support Possible

Your Opportunity:Our client is located in Grande Prairie, northwest Alberta, a growing city with close to 70,000 residents. In addition to a state-of-the-art recreation facility, the city offers many outdoor and indoor activities at its numerous parks and golf courses, as well as a vibrant arts and culture community, live theatre, and a variety of dining and shopping opportunities. The Occupational Therapist II will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment focused on meeting the needs of individuals with dementia syndrome and complex behavioral issues. Residents may exhibit challenging, unpredictable responsive behaviors requiring enhanced staffing expertise for care and oversight. This role reports to the Area Manager Allied Health and collaborates with the Care Community to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate occupational therapy and allied health clinical services within a program or service area.
  • Provide supervision of students and team members as assigned.
  • Work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, offering leadership to other healthcare professionals.
  • Make day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge, and follow-up.
  • Advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and effective client care.
  • Ensure occupational therapy practice aligns with Alberta legislation, professional standards, and AHS policy.
  • Manage day-to-day operations, including monitoring care delivery and assisting with caseload management.
  • Participate in program development and operational planning; represent the department on committees or programs.
  • Make decisions on staffing levels, workflow, and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and healthcare providers.
  • Serve as a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator, and/or advocate in the program or service area.

    • Maximum Salary: $54.61

    • Days Off: Saturday/Sunday

    Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program or a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy and related experience.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
  • Basic Life Support – Health Care Provider Level C.

    • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Alberta Aides to Daily Living (AADL) Authorizer status preferred.
  • Clinical experience in various healthcare settings, with specific experience in the management of Dementia Syndrome preferred.
