Under general supervision from the manager, the Occupational Therapist II performs duties related to the assessment, treatment, education, and management of patients within the Home Care environment. Our dynamic team serves clients in their homes, lodges, designated supportive living spaces, senior’s apartments, and long-term care facilities. There is a strong focus on a multi-disciplinary and collaborative process centered on the patient, involving Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech Language Pathologists, Recreation Therapists, and Social Workers working closely with nursing teams. In addition to excellent wages and benefits, our client offers a Remote Retention Allowance of up to $3,000 annually, payable on an hourly basis for all hours worked at the basic rate. As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible for the coordination of occupational therapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area. You will supervise students and team members as assigned and work both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals.
Your responsibilities will include making day-to-day clinical decisions regarding patient/family needs for assessment, intervention, discharge, and follow-up. You will advise team members on complex clinical cases, provide clinical leadership, and ensure that occupational therapy practices align with Alberta legislation, professional standards, and AHS policies. Additionally, you will coordinate the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area, monitor care delivery, identify service needs, assist medical staff with caseload management, complete chart audits, and provide feedback to staff.
Furthermore, you will participate in program development and operational planning, represent the department on committees, and make decisions regarding staffing, workflow, and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. As assigned, you will carry out the roles of a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator, and advocate in your program or service area.
