This position is suitable for an individual who has a passion for providing patient and family-centered care. Our client is located between the city of Cold Lake and Bonnyville, offering numerous indoor and outdoor recreational activities. This area is home to Canada’s busiest fighter base, multiple industries including tourism, oil and gas, and agriculture.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Integrated Care Manager, Seniors Health, and the Managers of Population Health and Indigenous Health, you will provide services to rural Indigenous communities in your respective portfolio. As the Community Health Nurse, your role will focus on promoting and protecting the health and well-being of individuals, families, groups, and communities. Additionally, you will facilitate holistic care to Indigenous people and their families, building understanding and trust between Indigenous populations and the healthcare system.

Travel is an integral part of this health team to rural and remote communities in the North Zone, providing culturally appropriate care and services to Indigenous people.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, and communities.
• Utilize nursing processes through critical thinking and problem-solving.
• Teach, counsel, and advocate for patients and their families.
• Support an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance.
• Ensure safe, quality, patient and family-centered care.

Compensation

Please note that Provisional Permit Holders will be paid $35.87/hour – $43.82/hour. Upon registration, the rate will be adjusted to reflect the applicable Registered Nurse pay rate according to established agreements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
• Active or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
• If not practiced as a Registered Nurse in the last five years, completion of required free courses.

Additional Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to work independently in a team environment.
• 2-5 years of RN experience in a long-term care/home care/acute care/public health setting.
• Understanding and respect for the combination of Western medicine and traditional Indigenous healing practices.
• Ability to meet physical demands, including travel to remote communities.
• Ability to speak or understand Indigenous languages is preferred.
