Job Overview

Our client is seeking a Ship Captain to command and operate vessels for transporting passengers and cargo. This position offers potential visa sponsorship for qualified international candidates, including support for those with or without a valid Canadian work permit.

Job Details

• Location: Various locations
• Work Location: On site
• Salary: $50,000 to $60,000 annually (To be negotiated)
• Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full-time
• Work Conditions: Morning, Day, Evening, Weekend

Education and Experience Requirements

• Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
• Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years
• Language Requirements: French, with English as an asset

Responsibilities

• Command and operate ships or vessels to transport passengers and cargo
• Supervise and co-ordinate activities of deck crews
• Ensure safety and comfort of passengers
• Determine geographical position using navigational instruments, maps and charts
• Maintain vessel’s navigational instruments and equipment
• Control, steer and navigate a vessel in various waterways
• Enforce regulations in Canadian waters
• Record vessel’s progress, weather and sea conditions in ship’s log

Certification Requirements

• Transport Canada Certificate of Competency
• Nautical Institute Certificate
• Marine Officer Certificate
• Marine Emergency Duty (MED) Training Program
