Overview

Our client is seeking a Chef with experience in Japanese cuisine to join their restaurant team. This is a full-time, permanent position located in Surrey, BC. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to apply with or without a valid Canadian work permit.

Responsibilities

• Estimate amount and costs of supplies and food items.
• Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory.
• Analyze operating costs and other data.
• Supervise activities of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks, and other kitchen workers.
• Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of food.
• Prepare and cook food on a regular basis or for special guests or functions.
• Requisition food and kitchen supplies.
• Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs.
• Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards.
• Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food.

Experience and Specialization

• Cuisine specialties: Japanese cuisine
• Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years

Requirements

• Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
• Languages: English
• Personal suitability: Team player.

Work Setting

Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Salary and Benefits

• Salary: $27.00 to $37.00 per hour (to be negotiated).
• Work Hours: 30 to 40 hours per week.
• Terms of Employment: Permanent, full time.
• Special Commitments: Night, Weekend, To be determined.
