Location: Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, Medicine Hat, Alberta

About Us

Our client is seeking a full-time (AP/CP) General Pathologist or an Anatomic Pathologist to join the team at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital (MHRH). This facility provides patient-centered care in southeastern Alberta, featuring a full range of healthcare services including a 24/7 emergency department and specialty clinics.

Job Summary & Responsibilities

Duties include:

  • General pathology or anatomic pathology case sign-out
  • Consultation in blood bank, hematology, accession, and point of care services
  • Cytopathology
  • Intradepartmental and interdepartmental consultations
  • Frozen section procedures

    • General Pathologists must maintain:

  • High standards of practice with prompt delivery of services
  • Active participation in quality assurance and improvement programs
  • Departmental on-call coverage (1:4 as required)
  • Involvement in undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate medical teaching

    • Qualifications

    Candidates must possess:

  • An MD with eligibility for licensure in Alberta
  • Certification in (AP/CP) General Pathology or Anatomical Pathology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or Anatomic/Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology

    • Additional qualifications include:

  • Effective communication and quality assurance skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment to deliver quality service
  • Capability to balance service and quality in a resource-sensitive setting
  • Collaborative teamwork skills and building trust in working relationships
