Job Opportunity: Swine Technician (Genetic Production Technician)

Our client is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join their team in innovating pork production. We empower our people by fostering personal and professional growth. Currently, we have several full-time Swine Technician (Genetic Production Technician) positions available at our Manitou Barn, located approximately 18 minutes northeast of Watrous or 1.5 hours from Saskatoon. While the ideal candidate would reside in surrounding communities, we also welcome foreign recruits through the Saskatchewan Immigration Nomination Program (SINP).

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate as a team member to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
• Ensure the health, handling, and well-being of sows, gilts, and piglets, including daily health checks.
• Weigh, sort, handle, and move pigs as necessary.
• Feed, water, vaccinate, and conduct general animal husbandry tasks, including basic maintenance of feeding and watering systems.
• Power wash empty pens and prepare rooms for animal entry.
• Maintain accurate records on all animals, including identification.
• Adhere to safety protocols while performing job duties, including wearing appropriate PPE.
• Follow the barn’s biosecurity protocols with staff and visitors.
• Assist with maintaining cleanliness in the barn and office, including laundry duties.
• Carry out other general farm duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Self-motivated and reliable.
• Strong team player.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
• Able to manage priorities and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
• Valid driver’s license.
• A college certificate or specialized training in agriculture or livestock husbandry with 1-2 years of experience is preferred.
• Foreign recruits must have an IELTS score of at least 4 in all sections of the General Module Test.
