Driver, Truck-Trailer Position

Join our client as a Driver for truck-trailer operations! We offer opportunities for candidates with or without a valid Canadian work permit.

Job Details

• Location: Mississauga, ON
• Salary: $24.50 to $26.00 per hour (To be negotiated)
• Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time
• Work Hours: 30 to 60 hours per week
• Overtime: Required, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and shift work.

Overview

The ideal candidate will have a secondary (high) school graduation certificate and prior driving experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Address customer complaints or concerns.
• Exhibit professionalism in customer service.
• Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.
• Load and unload goods.
• Operate and drive trucks to transport goods and materials.
• Inspect vehicle condition and equipment.
• Manage payments for goods.
• Conduct pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections.
• Coordinate with central dispatch.
• Maintain logs of cargo info, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption.
• Tarp and secure cargo safety.

Credentials

• AZ class license.
• Air Brakes Endorsement.
• Driver’s License (Class 1 or A).

Experience and Specialization

• Familiarity with accident or incident reports, bills of lading, logbooks, inspection reports, maintenance, and repair documentation.
• Experience with refrigerated and tractor-trailer equipment.
• Ability to operate GPS and navigation equipment.

Security and Safety

• Valid passport.
• Criminal record check.
• Driver’s validity licence check.
• Driving record check (abstract).
• Medical exam and drug test.

Transportation/Travel Information

• Valid driver’s licence required.
• Willingness to travel cross-border and internationally, including overnight stays.

Work Conditions

• Attention to detail.
• Ability to handle repetitive tasks and prolonged sitting.
