Job Description Summary:

International Student Development fosters an inclusive environment where students with international backgrounds and interests can fully contribute to and benefit from the campus community—empowering them to reach their full potential and make a positive impact. International Student Advisors provide immigration and other advising services to international students and develop innovative, responsive, and professional programs and services. Student Affairs is responsible for leadership, opportunities, and services that strengthen and enrich student learning. The incumbent will work collaboratively with various units and organizations, and evening and weekend work may be required.

Organizational Status:

International Student Advisors work as members of the International Student Development team within Student Affairs. Reporting to the Manager – International Student Advising, the incumbent supervises and mentors paid student staff and provides significant leadership and management on various projects.

Major responsibilities include:

Consequence of Error/Judgement:

Errors can result in legal consequences, affect students’ ability to remain in Canada, and damage the organizational reputation.

Supervision Received:

Independently works on strategies to support the success of international students, with effectiveness reviewed based on goal achievement.

Supervision Given:

Will review and approve immigration advice and supervise staff and volunteers.

Minimum Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline and a minimum of four to five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion is required.
