Job Title: Veterinary Technician
Job Details
Location: Corner Brook, NL
Work Setting: On site at a Veterinary clinic
Employment Type: Permanent, Full time
Salary: $24.00 to $30.00 per hour, negotiation available
Work Hours: 40 hours per week
Special Commitments: Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, Overtime, On Call
Responsibilities
- Collect samples and perform other laboratory tests
- Handle, restrain, and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery
- Produce diagnostic radiographs
- Assist the veterinarian before, during, and after surgery
- Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under the direction of the veterinarian
- Administer treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian
- Counsel clients on animal health care
- Perform a variety of office management and clerical duties
- Perform routine animal dental procedures and assist veterinarians with animal dentistry
- Provide nursing care and rehabilitation therapy for animals
- Provide wound and bandage care
Qualifications
Education
- College/CEGEP
Experience
Experience is an asset.
Certificates and Licenses
- Registration as a Registered Animal Health Technologist or Registered Veterinary Technician by a provincial or territorial association
Security and Safety
- Immunization records
