Job Opportunity with Our Client

This position represents a regular full-time training opportunity (theory and practicum) to prepare staff to work in a specified specialty department. Upon completion of the training, the staff member will be placed into a regular full-time rotation line within the specialty department for which they have been trained.

Please note: There is an 18-month return of service requirement as a permanent employee within the specialty department. Staff may move between departments within that specialty. The post-basic training program requires full-time attendance.

Key Responsibilities

• Reports to the Nurse Manager, Department Head, or designate.
• Plans and provides direct nursing care to patients/residents in the hospital or community.
• Aligns care with the unit/program philosophy, competency guidelines, policies, and the BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice in British Columbia.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience

• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant, with recent related medical and/or surgical experience.
• Upon completion of the specialty training, applicants will transition to a regular position within the Specialty department.

The hours of work, including days off and work area, may change consistent with operational requirements and applicable statutes.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrated ability to organize assigned workload and set priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with co-workers, physicians, community agency representatives, patients, residents, and families.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Additional Information

Distance Prerequisite Courses are required to be completed by early December 2025. Online course completion (of BCIT NSCC 7120 Theory 1 and NSCC 7150/Mosby ECG with PLAR credit/acceptable alternative) should be achieved while continuing in current employment.

Full-time Compressed Timeframe Training is scheduled for September to December 2025, including theory and clinical courses. Sponsorship includes tuition, books, and paid release from current employment to become a full-time student in the sponsoring unit.
