June 2025: Express Entry Pool Update for Canadian Immigration

May has brought exciting news for those keeping an eye on Express Entry, Canada’s popular immigration system. After a quieter April, we saw a significant uptick with 2,511 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) issued across four draws—more than double compared to last month. For international job seekers, this uptick is a beacon of hope as it indicates more opportunities for visa sponsorship and permanent residency (PR).

May’s Express Entry Draws

May featured a flurry of activity in Express Entry draws. Not only did Canada resume its regular draws, but it also included a Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draw after a three-month break. Plus, for the first time, Canada held category-based selections for Education and Healthcare professionals this month. This gives a glimpse into the job market’s evolving demands, welcoming more skilled workers in vital sectors.

Here are the highlights:

  • May 1: 1,000 ITAs for Education occupations at a score of 479
  • May 2: 500 ITAs for Healthcare and Social Services at 510
  • May 12: 511 ITAs through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) with a cut-off of 706 (PNP allows provinces to nominate candidates based on regional labour needs)
  • May 13: 500 ITAs for CEC at a cut-off of 547

This surge suggests that Canada is actively seeking skilled workers, which is promising for those exploring their pathways to PR.

Current Distribution of Scores in the Pool

As of May 13, 2025, there are 250,082 candidates in the Express Entry pool. The scores range widely, from 0 to 600+. Most candidates fall within the 301-400 range, comprising about 21% of the total. This data is crucial, as candidates need to gauge where they fit into the competitive landscape when applying for ITAs.

Understanding CRS Scores

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores help determine who gets invited to apply for PR. For instance, a score of 600+ places you in the highest percentile, giving you a better chance at receiving an ITA. The latest data shows a range of scores, with the largest groups clustered at 351-400 and 501-600.

For many international job seekers, understanding your CRS score and taking steps to enhance it—like improving language skills or gaining Canadian work experience—can be pivotal. Remember, boosting your score can heighten your chances of receiving an invitation.
