Your Opportunity:Join our team at a healthcare centre as a Licensed Practical Nurse and explore the natural beauty of Alberta while making a meaningful impact as an LPN at this rural hospital with an emergency department featuring 10 funded patient beds. In this role, you’ll work to the full scope of your practice within a multidisciplinary team, delivering patient and family-centered care while utilizing evidence-based practices. This rural hospital provides care to a variety of clients who may have urgent care needs or require pre- and post-surgical recovery, as well as pediatrics, and the facility also has a Stroke Centre. Your strong organizational and critical thinking skills will be essential as you deliver holistic care to clients. We are looking for someone who is a strong problem solver and decision maker to assess, plan, and evaluate care interventions. You believe in engaging patients and families in their care, promoting clients’ health while delivering safe, quality care, and modeling our values. You will benefit from cross-training to work with all areas of the hospital and a supportive team environment, including but not limited to day surgery, pre- and post-endoscopy, endoscopy suite, and clinics. Located on Treaty 6 territory and Métis lands, this area offers a unique blend of serene wilderness, modern amenities, and family festivals. There is also the opportunity for eligibility for Canada Student Loan Forgiveness for nurses.Description:As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will be part of an interprofessional healthcare team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level, and policies and procedures. Your key role will be to provide safe, quality patient- and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values.
Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:You must have 2 of the last 5 years practicing as a front-line Licensed Practical Nurse on a medical/surgical unit or 1 full year of the last 3 years on an emergency/critical care unit.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with IV initiation and management. Direct IV push certification (if not already certified, will be expected to be certified on the job). Certification in any of the following courses: Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS), Current Trauma Nursing Course (TNCC), Advanced Studies in Critical Nursing (ACCN), Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
