Our client, a national museum situated at a historic immigration site in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is seeking a dedicated and accomplished professional for the role of Director of Annual and Planned Giving. This full-time and permanent position will be integral to advancing the museum’s mission of sharing the immigration story of Canada.

Role Overview

As the Director, you will report to the Vice President of Revenue Generation and be a key member of the Revenue Generation Department, leading efforts to enhance donor engagement and maximize annual fundraising revenues.

Principal Accountabilities

• Manage the Development team to meet fundraising targets.
• Oversee the planned giving program and cultivate relationships with prospective donors.
• Support the Vice-President, Revenue Generation, with major gifts goals through research and proposal preparation.

Content Generation, Marketing & Promotion

• Collaborate with department leads for proposal accuracy and impact reporting.
• Work with the External Relations team to develop various donor communication materials.
• Foster a culture of philanthropy among stakeholders.

Administration

• Implement and evaluate fundraising strategies and reports.
• Manage donor records efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and accountability.

Risk Management

• Mitigate key risk elements for the museum.
• Protect donor information diligently.
• Report risk issues effectively.

Education, Knowledge & Experience

Required Skills and Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent fundraising experience.
• 8+ years in fundraising with a successful track record.
• Experience in planned giving and managing annual giving programs.
• Strong project management, budgeting, and financial skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and fund accounting software.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

• Experience in multi-stakeholder environments.
• Bilingual communication skills are an asset.
• CFRE designation or similar is an advantage.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $87,277 to $118,447, and includes a comprehensive benefit package. Assistance with relocation costs may also be provided.
