IRCC Express Entry Draw for Healthcare & Social Services PR

Exciting news for international job seekers! Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) recently issued more invitations to apply (ITAs) through the Express Entry system, a popular pathway for immigrants to gain permanent residency. This system allows candidates to submit a profile, and those with the highest Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores—calculated based on various factors including age, work experience, and education—are invited to apply for permanent residency in Canada.

What is an ITA?

An ITA is essentially your golden ticket to apply for Canada’s permanent residency. In a recent draw, the IRCC issued 500 ITAs focused specifically on healthcare and social services occupations. To qualify, candidates needed a minimum CRS score of 504 and must have created their profile before 6:47 a.m. UTC on March 31, 2025.

Express Entry Process Overview

In 2025, the Express Entry system has been highly active. For instance, recent draws have primarily targeted those through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), which is meant for applicants with prior work experience in Canada. The IRCC has issued a total of 35,217 ITAs so far this year!

The draws this year reflect a strong focus on PNP candidates—often selected by provinces based on regional labour needs. If a province nominates you, it can give you additional points under Express Entry, improving your chances of getting invited. This year alone, there have been 11 draws just for the PNP. The IRCC also holds draws for individuals with French-language skills, which adds another layer of opportunity.

How Long Does It Take?

After submitting your Express Entry profile, keep in mind that it’s valid for up to one year. If you don’t receive an ITA in that time, you can submit a new profile. Once you do get an ITA, the processing time for your permanent residency application can be up to six months.

You have 60 days from the time you receive your ITA to submit your complete application, so it’s wise to have your documents ready. The government aims to streamline this process to ensure a smoother transition for newcomers.

If you’re eyeing a job in Canada, securing an ITA through Express Entry can greatly boost your chances of success. Whether it’s through job offers, PNP, or enhancing your skills, there are many pathways to call Canada home.
