Based out of our client’s Melcor Centre, Lethbridge office, this Occupational Therapy position is part of a large multidisciplinary team (OT, PT, SLP, SW, AUD and TAs) who provide service to a pediatric population from birth to 18 years. The successful incumbent will show proficiencies in the following areas: interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain collaborative working relationships with members of the interdisciplinary team. You must be self-directed, able to work independently, and demonstrate excellent time management and prioritization skills. As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible for the coordination of occupational therapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. As an Occupational Therapist II, you will work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, where you will be an integral member, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will make day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge, and follow-up. You will advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient, and effective client care.
You will ensure occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics, and relevant policies and guidelines. You will coordinate the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area, monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs, assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits, and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will participate in program development and operational planning, representing the department on committees or programs. You will make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. As assigned, you will carry out the roles of a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator, and/or advocate in your program or service area.
